It will get folks attention all right, they will mentally clock you as somewhat inadequate, low achiever, bad mannered and inconsiderate - even though you are probably quite a nice guy. Don't do it.

I managed to purchase on of the Lidl ones and find it good. I know this is of no use to you but I have learned a few things from it.

Four legs are more stable than three, especially if it has a wide base.
Look for one that the legs fold up close to the upright for storage.
The ability to use the clamp on the frame or the seat post is advantageous.
The tool try on mine get in the way sometimes.
If used on the top tube any cables there can be trapped.
It can be quite hard to raise the bike when it is clamped in the stand.

Sorry I can not help with makes but hope the above points help.

I also got on eof the Lidl stands and agree that four legs make them more stable. Looked at one of these in Decathlon last week and they seem very well made and with four rtaher than two legs. Use a lot of alloy as well so lighter to shift around.

It arrived a short while ago, and after a happy 15 minutes assembling it, this is the result.

Initial checks and tests show it to be solid and strong. The clamp will go on the Mercian's top tube and also allow for the brake cable. It only just fits on the seat post but is possibly the strongest place to clamp. As you can see, I have a project to get my teeth into!

The clamp assembly will rotate through 360deg and locks in place rock solid by dint of a taper system that is clamped tight.

It will fold up for storage, but it seems quite a tough job as the fittings are quite tight. No doubt I will manage with practice.

The stand is powder coated and is well made.
