No you can't.
Pick one that has been replied to, or one that is quite old, and you get a message at the bottom that says it's been edited.
You can see the message after you have pressed "submit" and then looked at the post later.

I've just done a quick check back through the threads I have started and it's a small number compared with the number and length of my posts more generally. I cannot remember starting a thread in the 'For sale etc section.
One I started on 28 Nov hasn't got the bump button, but everything in October has. That suggests to me that a post has to to be older than a certain date (as somebody has already suggested) and that may well be a month. In which case, it may be useless for the only section where it might have a use.

PS I'll support whatever you say Graham. In the meantime, my wife has been out with her chums. When she comes home she may well ask what I have been doing. What am I going to say 'I've been conteplating my bump button?' She'll never believe me.

PPS By coincidence she's just arrived home so I'm off to cover my tracks.

Open to misuse?
Easy to do and without a message?
Why?
I can see no reason, and as you suggest, TC, the only place it might be of use, it already gets auto deleted.
Funny, I never noticed the button before!

Neither had I - probably why mine is full of fluff.
