I love Q17: "This question is intentionally left blank. Go to 18"

Q41 "How do you usually travel to work?" has bicycle but not trike or mobility scooter. So we can expect local authorities to stick up bollards on all commuting routes.

Our form arrived yesterday, it's fun to read and fill in. I have no objection to it except the cost and the pointlessness of it nowadays.

All the info on me - and YOU - is "out there" anyway, or at least it is on the type of person that would fill the form in in the first place! Info is missing on people of course, but those sort of people may not fill in the form anyway.

Example of pointless question:
"What passports do you hold?"
They know that already!!!

Also, the form can hold a max of six persons. I know that people can order another form and fill it in online, but we know a few families round here with more than six in the house, and they probably won't fill the form in properly, let alone ask for another form, and I very much doubt they even have a computer.

I was thinking - but not very hard - about the sort of info it might be possible o collect, which would be potentially useful and is not officially collected any other way.

All I can think of is informally acquired skills. The significant skill would be using a computer, although I presume that if anybody has made any sort of policy decision, which I doubt, it will be that inevitably there will come a time when most people can use one at a basic level.

Cunobelin's post about access to vehicles is an excellent example: the question is ambiguous and too vague to have much use for policy planning, although the broad-brush answer will be used to support arguments either way and it seems loaded towards an assumption that anybody with access to a private car is OK and ipso facto if everybody had access to a car, the world would be a better place. If they were seriously looking at transport policy, they would need, at the very least, more info about people who depended on public transport. The real question would be who would be better served by the alternatives to the private car: not something that would be discovered by a single census question.

I still don't see what my renting a 2 bed house with no van or car has got to do with "them".

Erm - you do know it says "Fill in ON OR AFTER the 27th March"

But the address question on the front is funny...
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.

The question is not so much "Do I know?" but rather "Do I care?" 8)

They can send me another form if they wish, they'll only get exactly the same answers as on the first. :P

Unless you suddenly go on holiday, or move house, or go into hospital, or squatters move in and throw you out, or an earthquake wrecks your house, or you throw a wobbler and run away, or aliens or Jedi abduct you, or Dr Who comes into your house by Tardis and he takes you back to the Stone age, or a miracle happens and you give birth to triplets, or I pop round to your house for a visit and bring all my relations with me, or,or,or,or. :D

You never know what changes can occur between now and the 27th.

Just thinking .........

If one was to fill in the form and post it off, but another member of the household was to fill it in online - completely differently - which version would be accepted?
