Manchester Headcam Records Road Rage.
Re: Manchester Headcam Records Road Rage.
Strangely, in another place, someone from Manchester started a topic on how he was told by a Manchester Police officer that it was Manchester Police policy to basically ignore video footage recorded by cyclists.
Now I see Manchester Police using helmet camera footage to try and trace someone, they have even have their own YouTube channel.

That's certainly been my experience. Perhaps they've changed their minds...
Re: Manchester Headcam Records Road Rage.
Given the cuts I guess they are going to rely on CCTV and cyclists footage to detect crime now.
Re: Manchester Headcam Records Road Rage.
Looking at the majority of comments it's all the cyclists faults anyway. the worry is the amount of ignorance of the law, vitriol and violence directed at cyclists.

The good thing is though the 'voting' system in general seems to support the cyclist. I just whizzed through and voted up the support and voted down the idiots - only for the 'best' and 'worst' rated, can't be bothered reading them all.
At least the idiots will see nobody agrees with them.

The motorist pled guilty to driving without due care and attention, and common assault. Found not guilty of dangerous driving.

Not at all surprising when you consider the average IQ of the Daily Mail reader, marginally higher than a Sun reader but significantly lower than the amoeba.
Re: Manchester Headcam Records Road Rage.
Martin Porter has posted a summary on his blog http://thecyclingsilk.blogspot.com/.
The conviction for assault should have happened anyway but what is significant is the conviction for driving without due care and attention. This is the first conviction for a close pass incident which did not result in an accident. I'm sure the assault influenced the driving conviction but the latter is independent of the former as a conviction. Police are often reluctant to pursue complaints if they think that there is little chance of success in the courts so this could be an important piece of case history.

Great. After a road rage incident yesterday (happy Bike Week!) I've ordered a headcam. How do I mention this case to ASPolice to get them to take any incident footage I may record seriously?
