Do these names mean anything to you?

They are the surnames of the riders who have held (or attempted) the year mileage record. I have written about Tommy Godwin http://www.phased.co.uk/index.php/tommy-godwin-mile-eater.html

I'm now researching the year record further and would be very interested in any further information anyone may have concerning any of the riders below:-

Arthur Humbles
Rene Menzies
Walter Greaves
Marcel Planes
Bernard Bennett
Ossie Nicholson
Ken Webb - I believe Ken is still about and would be keen to talk to him,but I'm not sure how keen he would be as his record attempt was discredited.

Thanks for any information, help or pointers.

Nicholson was a teammate of Oppy and I recall a few mentions of him in Opperman's autobiography. There is a bit about him on an Aussie historical website, I think.

There is very little about Rene Menzies on the web. Didn't he chauffeur De Gaulle for a while? He was the first Brit to ride PBP, in '48 and '51.

There was something in a Moultoneer magazine in the last couple of years about the year record but I can't recall the rider's name offhand.

Greaves was the one with a dodgy hand and a surly attitude? I read something online about him in the last couple of years too but can't recall the website.
