A couple of years ago, riding an Audax I was disgusted at the amount of fly tipping in the area particularly tyres.
I commented to one of the local riders and was told the council charge for dumping of tyres etc at the lcoal tip.

Seems to me it is a catch 22, charge for this stuff and it gets dumped elsewhere, so who then picks up the tab, you and me via our council taxes as they increase to cover such costs.

Article last week that Clerkenwell council are charging private cars to go to the local tip, cue an increase in fly tipping in that area I suspect.

+1 Many councils are considering charging for use of recycling and rubbish sites. Are they so short sited that they cant see what effect this will inevitably have on the countryside.

Automatic impoundment of vehicles caught fly tipping would be a good start to discouraging it.

I once came around a bend to see a van with company phone number on it fly tipping in a lane it looked like household rubbish not realated to the companies business to me.

.I phoned the number and insisted on speaking to the owner or a director of the company. Eventually someone claiming to be a director took my call.I hope the 2 guys got the sack later.
