I remember, me and my mate camping up on the cliffs of Whitby. Hot weather, followed by a thunderstorm, guessing that was the end of the Summer.
I was single then (still am

) However, me and me mate, when at Whitby that week, were pissed up everynight.

I was 23, married one 1year old daughter, living in married quarters in Rosyth, just about to leave HMS Gurkha for a job in the maintenance base looking after the minesweepers and minehunters.
Including HMS Bronnington with HRH Prince of Wales as CO

We had a record player with loads of LPs and singles, since given away to both daughters!

Just that radio industry decided it's more hip to call a waveband by the modulation method. Nothing to stop you broadcasting frequency modulation on long wave if you like.
Good set the older Grundig, well designed and nice sound.

Did my A levels, then spent the summer working in the newsagents where I'd been a paper boy since 1971.
I was still riding my 1971 Carlton Corsa which by then had Weinmann alloy wheels and Simplex gears, an upgrade from the old chromed steel and Huret respectively.
I remember everyone coming out onto the street when it started raining for the first time in ages.

I was building my house on the side of the mountain. Digging the drains in the evening with a pick and steel miners shovel. It was so hot the sweat ran down my nose in a continuous stream.
