My rims braking surfaces are both wearing into a hollow, or bending outwards, or both. It says "safety line" on the rim. Is some sort of warning wear line due to appear, or could I have worn it off already and need new rims very soon?

From what I recall, the indicator is just a small cut out on the inside of the rim, which will show through when the rim finally wears through. You can see it if you take the tyre off.
There's a lot of metal in them rims, which may give a strong concave apperance, but they don't give out that easily.

Alesa Endeavour should wear through into the pinning hollows before they fail. But they don't necessarily do that. My rear just got more and more concave. However the concavity wasn't directly the effect of wear, it was produced by the flange, weakened by wear, bending outward under tyre pressure. Ultimately some parts bent a bit more than others and it became impossible to stop the brake rubbing intermittently. All this happened before any holes appeared into the pinning hollow.
So beware: once a rim looks concave, it needs testing or measuring, or else it might go at any time.

Righto thanks.
I'm impressed by the hubs on these wheels - Shimano Parallax, which came with the bike (Dawes galaxy), as they have done over 20k km hardly needing any adjustment and still running very smoothly.
