Hello there.

I'm a cyclist who got crunched by a car in 2008 and my health deteriorated. since the start of this year I have been back in training, on a good diet and shifted four stone. I have four more to go! My Lemond is in pieces, my Subway2 is all bust up - and I'm currently window shopping.

My aim is to buy a new bike which will let me take part in charity events and complete 30-70 miles a ride at weekends. I'm planning on cycling down to Devon this summer and then across France in 2012. Any advice would be gratefully received.

I've recently rejoined the CTC and have no strong opinions either way about helmets. I don't tend to take myself or the internet terribly seriously and hope I can be amused and informed here.

All the best, Dave :)

Get another Subway 2, great bike for touring. Did a round Brittany tour on mine last year. You just need some mudguards and a rack.
