I bought:-
Mitts, Shorts, Ultralight Jacket.
Took shorts and ultralight back.
The shorts were too low on the stomach. I have had a pair previously and in comparison the new ones were 2" lower in the waist.
The Ultralight is advertised as "protects against rain". The label says showerproof.
Has anyone actually put one of these to the test?
Pity about the shorts as they, initially, seem well made and have a substantial pad.
I kept the mitts, but again, they are a snug fit even though they are XL size.

The Lidl ones did and I threw all ours away, thinking we would never need it.

I tried an Ultralight jacket on, but didn't buy it. The zip looked like it wouldn't last very long and it was just too thin, didn't look like it would keep any water out.

I tried a jacket on also - zip didn't look good at all, and wasn't too impressed with the "vent" system.
Very light though. Was considering buying one just to chuck in the bottom of the pannier for emergencies, might still do that.

I did buy a pair of gloves - these are fine, not an awful lot of gel in them though, but for 3.99 ??!?
And I bought a pair of shorts, very good I think.

They also had quite a few of the large drybags left from the offer last week, so I picked up one of those as well.

The small handpump appears to be useless - gauge goes up to 8 bar, couldn't get more than 2 bar into a fat tyre that needs 4.
Haven't tried the cycle computer yet - no evidence of the claimed "back-lighting", at least it looks a bit waterproof ...
As usual, none of the clothes would fit someone my size.

The cycle computer looked similar to previous versions - I use one happily (as a backup to the GPS and as a thermometer;) )

I was going to get more rear lights, but they looked very poor indeed.

My shop had a nice pair of stainless steel shoehorns - which will help prolong the life of my cycling shoes.

I bought the ultralight jacket, seems good value for an emergency top as a wind blocker, for very light rain only. YKK zips - be careful they are quite fiddly to zip off. Mitts are very comfy - make good gifts.
The shorts have a bad fit.

At that price the mitts will be usefull for anyone who uses walking poles on holiday (thats when we go down routes that are not roads or bridlepaths). :)

I'm still using the mitts from last time - have lasted well but do tend to niff a bit after a while (good news is that they have survived the washing machine a few times too).
But got home yesterday and found a new pair of mitts and a new pair of cycling socks on the table waiting for me.....ah, the power of wafting the niffy mitt around.

Last week I ordered some £15 mitts on Wiggle, before seeing this thread.
Then a few days later I see the gloves I've ordered have changed from 'stock expected early May' to 'discontinued' (to date they still haven't actually notified me that my order is never going to be fulfilled).

I saw this thread and thought 'Great! - but the nearest Aldi is about ten miles away and I'm working all week.'

Today I thought I'd head over there anyway as it'd be a nice ride even if they'd long since run out of everything, and I could even visit the grandparents on route back for a cup of tea...

And actually, they hadn't run out of anything, and so my £15 gloves ended up costing me £43.

Thanks guys.

My previous post on this thread seems to have gone into the ether. I was one of the first through the door of my local Aldi. I bought my partner a l/s top and a shower proof jacket. The best buy was a soft shell jacket left over from the walking gear promotion. Perfect for on bike use. Also got her a pair of walking gaiters. Earned a big sack of brownie points. Big thanks to XAP bob for giving me the heads up. :D

got a cracking lightweight windproof jacket for only £6.99 :)

then saw rainproof top and trousers for a fraction of the price that I paid at Evans :(
