Another way of looking at it is to try and convince a manufacturer that you would be helping them establish a presence in a market where they do not currently have a presence.

For example idworx are a well know brand in Holland and Germany but not very well known in the UK. Perhaps you could convince them that a Brit on one of their bikes would be good publicity and help sell their bikes in the UK.

Maybe ask for a discount.
