I'm a teacher trying/hoping to introduce a cycling club as an after school activity. I have tried contacting BSCA re coaching training - no reply. I have also had contact with BC about their ACAT coaching award for teachers and have booked onto the course only for it to have been cancelled twice. Our organisations aren't doing much to promote cycling amongst children!
Anyway can anybody point me in the direction of an appropriate source of activities, fun/skills as well as competitive, suited to the 7-11 age range? At least I could then get started with the children while I wait for BC to finally run their coaching course.
Cycle coaching/activities for children.

Depending on which part of the country you are, try checking out www.ctc.org.uk/cycletraining and you will find a list of instructors in each of the regions ...
If there is someone in your immediate area, then get in touch with them and see if you can work something out .. meanwhile if you also want to take a look at www.awardsforall.org.uk, as a school you may well qualify for a grant to cover the costs if you need a little financial help.
You can apply on line and will know within 8 weeks if you have been succesful. If you need any help completing the application, let me know via a private message and I will put you in touch with someone who will help you with the wording of it, someone who knows what they are doing but nothing that is untoward!
If you also want to take a look at my webby for example, that will give you an idea of prices and services that are offered although other independent instructors may work slightly differently., we are however all trained to the same National Standard., Bikeability being the new name that actually associates cycling with it.
Hope you find what you want ...
