Einstein's famous equation. If you really did lose significant amounts of mass without sweating or otherwise leaking, you would surely have been propelled close to the speed of light...........

Just seen this thread.

I think what Frank Herbert said in "Dune" was that water is better carried in your body. Although you and your bike will weight the same, it's more use in you than in a water bottle.

Only up to a point. if you take in too much water, your body will simply expel it quicker. I would argue that a bladderful of dilute urine isn't of much use to anyone and under those circumstances, I'd rather the water was in the bottle. :wink:

In that case, I advocate fitting a cathater so the bladder is constantly emptying. No surplus fluid carried on the body.

Can't remember bikes being mentioned in Dune at all.......

Surely you remember the Giant Worm? Giant was a a very popular brand but they did seem to ride just the one model. It must have had big tyres for the sandy conditions.
