Barbag Mounting Rail Replacement

Post by howfar »

Does anyone know where a replacement barbag rail can be sourced?

I took a tumble an a bridleway today and the barbag took the brunt - fabric and contents all ok but the mounting rail got deformed and sheared off on one side of the bracket.

The rail clips into a Klickfix bracket and I've searched their website and done the google searches and checked this forum but to no avail.

The barbag is perfectly servicable and it seems a shame to have to get a new barbag just to get the rail.

Any pointers? Presume Carradice might be able send one although not on their spares page.

I'm no familier with the rail type attachment, but if it's a current Carradice bag, they will definately supply a spare. If it isn't current, I suspect you're out of luck. However, Carradice might be able to sell you the current Klikfix mounting, which you could then fit yourself or get a luggage repair shop to fit.

Do you mean the plate on the bag is broken? http://www.dotbike.com/p/7635

It's a black metal rail that the bag velcro's onto and the ends of the rail pass into sleeves on the side of the barbag.

The barbag is a 1990 Karrimor and the Klickfix bracket attached to the handlebars is the standard Klickfix bracket that was purchased about 1992 and is still the same design today along with the black metal (rail/holder/hanger) but packaged as a Karrimor combo.

I took a photo of the broken metal (rail/hanger/holder) but couldn't get it posted.

The plastic bracket suggested is for a basket - I don't know if modern bags use that same fixing as baskets nowadays.

I think I'll contact Carradice tomorrow to see if they have any available as spares together with a photo of the broken item!

Thanks for the advice - I'll let you know if I get sorted!

Bingo!! CRC had none in stock at £12.99 and SJS had them at £15.31 so I googled the AGU CC-100 and Amazon had them at £9.99 postage free. Just ordered one so I'll be bar bagged up again by the weekend hopefully.

Once again thanks for all your help - my technical term "rail" should have been "frame".
