A good idea, but two factors.
One, there are often things out there - but finding a retailer to get it in for you is a problem.
Two, unfortunately much merchandise these days has to be "fashionable" to sell. Weather it works well, offers value for money or is any good all seem to be secondary considerations.
A listing of crap items would also be useful, however one has to be very careful about what is said to avoid being pursued by the lawyers!

I had made a load of headset spanners, and I had a go at getting cone spanners - all bespoke. I had a contact in the engineering trade who could get stainless steel laser-cut. The source hasn't actually dried up, but it's not so easy now.
Ferrit Worrier - on this board - made me some brackets to fit a front pannier rack on my Raleigh Chopper.
It's amazing what you can get made/done if you ask the right questions of the right people ..........
