I need cheering up, ' cos just as I was uploading The Hitchhikers guide - series 3 from tape onto computer, my aged Revox goes and makes like a burnt offering and fills the room with smoke.
So for a bit of fun I thought, let's have a Desert Island Discs and share our all time favourite top 20 albums.
So here's kicking off with mine, and yes most of them are vinyl:

Jon & Vangelis - The friends of Mr Cairo.
Beach Boys - Keepin' the summer alive.
Camel - The Snow Goose.
Dire Straits - Telegraph Road.
ELO - Out of the blue.
Fairport Convention - Fiddlestix.
Genesis - Trick of the tail.
Elton John - Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy.
Joni Mitchell - Blue.
Moody Blues - Every Good Boy Deserves Favour.
Alan Parsons Project - The turn of a friendly card.
Pink Floyd - Dark side of the Moon.
Rennaissance - Song of Scheherazade.
Judie Tzuke - Left hand talking.
T'Pau - Bridge of spies.
Rick Wakeman - Journey to the centre of the Earth.
Corrs - Forgiven not forgotten.
Iona - Iona.
Fleetwood Mac - Tango in the night.
Jeff Wayne - War of the worlds.

Narrowly missing the top 20 were works by Mike Oldfield, Queen, Mabon, Carmina, Cathy Burton, Cara Dillon, Yes and Beethoven.
My tastes are predominantly prog rock, but with some influence from folk & classical. Who's next?

I never really got over the death of Roy Plomley in the 80s, and gave up listening soon after that.

The man was a genius.
