Re: Do you ever feel you are against the clock on a tour?

I tour to enjoy the ride and the places I pass through. On the other hand time isn't unlimited, so there's usually some target zone for the end of the day. I may have picked the only village with a pub, a likely wild camping spot or a known chip shop, or maybe an area with a choice of several of the above within a 5 mile radius. There's also the problem of passing through a heavily built up/trafficked area. Those I tend to tackle by laying up short mid afternoon, fuelling up and grabbing some sleep, then tanking it down the main roads in the small hours. Planning has its place, but it isn't the ruling factor.
