I have my wife's grandfather's old bike, which I'm hoping to restore. No idea what to do about the chromed bits, and wondering whether I shouldn't jsut buy a cheap ebay bike with dynohub/3-speed, or whether I can actually fix the hubs on this bike?

Derek (I think that's his name) has an encyclopaedic knowledge of all things Sturmey Archer and has helped me out on a couple of occasions.

If it's fixable - and old SA hubs usually are - he's your man.
