Ok so I've realised my bike isn't worth upgrading and I need a new one.
What the best bike for about £400, preferrably 700c wheels, needs to be able to take mudguards and a rack.
I ride a 9 mile round commute on some smoothish roads with a few bumps.
Low gears are a must as I have to go up 3 hills.

Probably best to look at good quality secondhand, of which there are often examples advertised on this forum. You won't go wrong with a Dawes Galaxy or similar.
