Pannier recommendation?

+1 Ortliebs My are at about 15,000-20,000km now and apart from the dust they're still "as new". They only down side is the spacers that wear out in the hooks. This can be fixed with some duct tape or old innertube

Or is it that the hooks themselves get stretched slightly, making the inserts start to fall out? In which case you can replace the whole hook/handle part http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalo ... FgQ8gIwAQ#

I've used Altura Dryliner for a good few years - never a leak. To be fair, I haven't used any of the other well known ones listed here though - haven't needed to.

I would guess that this is an area where you definitely get what you pay for, so if it's cheap, don't necessarily expect a life-time's use. On the other hand, if you are only going to be an ocassional user of pannier bags, cheaper ones with kit in plastic bags may be entirely adequate.

Thanks but these too will wear out, its an ortlieb design fault. I like my hack better it will last forever (with new tape now and again) :D :D
