"TRADITIONAL" Cycling shoes.

Post by LANDSURFER74 »

I would love a pair of traditional leather cycling shoes to ride with on my toeclips and straps hybrid.
Looked at Dromarti and and a few others..absolutley beautifull .... but £173 for a pair of shoes**%%%!! ..well beyond my income...i'm not in financial services , im an engineer.... are there any alternatives at a sensible price ... or do i just need to "get with the programe" ... and cough up the cash????

I like the look of those - they have been highly rated by CJ if I'm not mistaken.

Yep, I think that it was the older chunky sole version that CJ raved about (I have a pair and I agree they are great shoes).

hi,dromarti is very expensive.i recently bought a pair of exustar 707 leather traditional look shoes for £75 and free postage from bike+ ,look on their website, they do have a facility for wearing cleats, but i use the cover provided and use these shoes with my toe clips/straps and they slide in and out of pedals really well.

These came up on another forum:

No first hand experience, but the fellow that ordered them sent them back on the "no nonsense" guarantee because of some fitting problems for his feets. May be worth a punt. :)
Best regards

I have these shoes from Decathlon.

I got some dye from the local shoe repairer to dye the silver part black.

I like the idea of these as commuter trainers. How are they in the wet? Do they get sodden quickly and give you cold feet?

Commuting to work in the winter rain and slush I often wore plastic bags over my feet to keep my feet dry. The large freezer bags I used didn't have the safety holes they put in other bags. Red rubber bands courtesy of the Royal Mail completed my outfit.
