What should a Schmidt sound/feel like?

Hi all,
I've just fitted a Schmidt Original dynohub to my tourer. It's making a sort of vibrating noise as the poles turn, and I wonder if this is normal? It's not really really noisy, but I've been led to think that Schmidt are such an industry standard that it ought to be smooth and silent.
Any experience you can share would be very welcome. Thanks,
Ed

All dynamos do that, don't worry.

I can feel mine when I spin the axle in the hub, counted all 26 poles

Not yet ridden it, so can't comment on live feeling yet (next week)

I don't think it should make any noise but you should feel the resistance of the magnets.

It will feel a bit notch when you turn the wheel by hand. Once you are riding, that feeling will disappear. However, at higher speeds there will be some vibration with the SON 28, but not as far as I have been able to ascertain with a SON 20 on a big wheeled bike (maybe I did not ride fast enough on that bike). The new lighter and slimmer models are also said to be a bit smoother, apparently.

OK - the XM-S is now installed and has had a run out (well, one run without the cabling in place, then back with the lights wired up).
I don't think there was more than a psychological difference in drag, even compared with a "normal" wheel.
I couldn't hear or feel the hub either - and I'm rather closer to mine that you are to yours.

Couple of days commuting in - I can't feel it.
My times are within the normal range for my commute, the lights are just on.
I've not tried for a high speed commute yet (I feel a bit rough this week) but the bearings seem to do the job, and frankly it's going to take (over a 17 minute commute) 5kJ, or the equivalent of an extra 5 metres of climbing (not alot)
Calc: 17min * 60sec * 5watt = 5.1kJ
5.1kJ / (100kg*9.81N/kg) = 5.12m

Sound: Strong German accent I'd guess.
Feel: I do not recommend trying this!
Right, I'll get me coat!
