I did hear of one picnic area (can't remember where) that was apparently a popular dogging spot.

Which would make a neat reversal of the old visual gag of shadows from inside the tent :)

I'd be inclined to avoid anywhere with "facilities"/handy car parking.

be careful out there.

Is there a website that people with garden space can sign up to to offer tent space for passers through ? If not, why not ?

A bit like warmshowers but only for pitching of tent.

Its perfectly possible if your responsible and very discreet to spend the night on Hampstead Heath, Richmond Park etc

Couldn't possibly say on an open forum but its interesting to note that the Royal Parks Police tour at around midnight and very early with spotlights attached to their vehical. As I said be descreet and responsible and you should be OK

I didn't have a bike with me but on topic.

My first ever night on foreign soil was spent on a roundabout in the Bois de Boulogne, Paris.

Me and a mate climbed over a small wire fence and settled down for the night. I slept well though dimly aware at times of small noises.

In the morning my mate said he'd hardly slept because of prostitutes taking clients into the bushes.

Maybe I'm made for this lark.
