" terrific ted "

Post by hondated »

When I had my bike made I was asked whether I wanted my name put on the frame and the above monika was suggested so I agreed to it being written onto the frame.
It as at least personalised the bike for me, but I am now wondering how it was put on the bike. Its clearly not sign written so I can only assume it is some form of transfer which as got me thinking that if that is the case then I could place other names as a form of tribute onto the frame as well.
Does anyone know how this is done and if they do use transfers where I can get some made.

Its probably self adhesive vinyl as used by sign makers. Most sign makers could make some for you but they get damaged easily so your original one is probably under the clear laquer on the frame. There are lots of ebay listings for people who will make bike name decals on ebay if you don't have a sign maker nearby.

I had my name scribed onto a frame in the 1970's using "letraset" and then varnished over - a quick google shows they are still in business, another one for the made in britain thread :D
Peugeot 531 pro, Dawes Discovery Tandem, Dawes Kingpin X2, Raleigh 20 stowaway X2, 1965 Moulton deluxe, Falcon K2 MTB dropped bar tourer, Rudge Bi frame folder, Longstaff trike conversion on a Giant XTC 840, Giant Bowery, Apollo transition. :D

DB Cycle Products on ebay, good price, fast delivery, easy to apply - just use some modellers varnish to finish off the job.

I have just ordered some name transfers from the link above. There did not appear to be anywhere to put the name in so I sent a message to the vendor thru ebay. Hope it works out.

@mechanic : yes, send your printing and colour requirements with your order :D but make sure you write in upper/lower case as you want to see it, and specify if you want any other font than script.

Sounds good but there does not appear to be anywhere on the Ebay link to put in the name you require a transfer for never mind the font and colour. I sent a separate message to the vendor, thru Ebay, to amend the order. Hopefully it has got through although I have not had any form of acknowledgement from the vendor yet. Will wait and see what turns up, if anything.
