Campsite Reviews - England

Post by Si »

Add campsite reviews in England to this thread.

Normal review rules apply: just give us the facts, especially if it is a negative review, and try to keep the thread on topic as it's meant to be a resource and so should be easy to skim through. Perhaps we could start each post with something like:

Campsite name: <name here>
Location: <adress / grid ref>
Fees: <£££>
Facilities: <list of cycle-friendly/unfriendly facilities>
Comments: <recommended or not, with reasons>

Campsite name: Fritton Campsite
Location: Fritton about 35 miles west of Gt Yarmouth.
Fees: I've forgotten, therefore not extortionate or I would remember.
Facilities: <list of cycle-friendly/unfriendly facilities>
Comments: Shower and toilet. The most immaculately clean toilet I saw on my coast to coast trip. Friendly landlady offered to get me fish and chips as she was going to the takeaway. A camping and caravan club site.

Campsite name: Little lodge
Location: 24 miles east of Ely and a few miles east of Thetford in the forest.
Fees: <£10
Facilities: wc and shower at the farm.
Comments: This was a caravan only site but the farmer allowed me to stay down by the river on a beautiful pitch beside the Ouse. One of my favourite sites.

Pillaton Hall Farm • Pillaton • Penkridge • Staffordshire ST19 5RZ
Tel: 01785 715177 • Email: info@pillatonpools.co.uk

Located 10 miles from Wolverhampton along the A449 or 3 miles from junction 13 of the m6 motorway (Stafford)

Very nice site with the village of Penkridge about a 20 minute walk away. Lots of pubs etc

Site has free showers, a shop and four fishing pools. No cycle specific features but a decent stop off point and friendly staff.
I keep my ideals, because in spite of everything,
I still believe that people are really good at heart.

There is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word, which means more to me than any other. That word is England.
