Quarry Lodge - Carmarthen.

Actually just north of Carmarthen, 1/2 mile off the A40. I’ll start with the bad -it’s a steep half a mile at the end of a hard day.

Lovely site overlooking the valley with a selection of pitches from ‘wild’ to serviced. Small thought and arranged that it would be hard to feel hemmed in. Simple facilities in way of toilets and showers but clean and do the job well. Lovely owners, they even asked if we wanted anything as they were popping to the shop! On top of that cyclists get a very good price - £10 for two of us!

A real calm oasis.

Campsite name: Dinarth Hall Caravan & Camp Site
Location: Dinerth Hall Road, Colwyn Bay, Colwyn Bay, LL28 4PX
Fees: £10 per adult for tents
Facilities: older but very clean loo blocks and showers (free). Sockets you can charge from. Fence you can lock bike to.
Comments: it's the only campsite for tents near Llandudno. Could be lively on sunny summer holiday weekends as there's little supervision.

Campsite name: Elan Oaks
Location: Elan Valley,
Rhayader
LD6 5HP
Fees: £15
Facilities: New facilities block with good showers, washng up room and bike wash
Comments: The site caters for caravans, motorhomes and tents. Tents are in a separate field, next to the river. The site is just outside Rhayader very close to the Elan Valley visitor centre. A great base for mountain biking in the area or for an overnight stop on the way to Aberystwyth
