"Road Tax"
"Road Tax"
Does anybody know how much a full page advert in The Sun would be? (which most of the numpties read).
I thought if we all chipped in we could explain the "you don't don't pay road tax" thing.

About 35 grand apparently...
Re: "Road Tax"
Well, with 60,000 members apparently
Re: "Road Tax"
I'll happily donate 50p.
Re: "Road Tax"
Well yes but not everyone would do it. Good luck to you if you want to organise it. I'd happily chip in a few quid. And I'm not a member of CTC yet as a few others on the forums aren't.

Unfortunately:
'There's none so blind as they that won't see'
so I doubt it would make much difference

I suppose the ad could feature a girl in skimpy clothes on a bike making the point about "road tax" to a neanerthal in a fast looking car?
Re: "Road Tax"
Sorry,
I would much rather pay "Road Tax" for my bikes than to contribute money to the Sun's coffers.

Re: "Road Tax"
It might be a good idea to get the government department responsible to stop using the phrase
Car Tax first.
As Meic put I will not give any money to that paper.

Re: "Road Tax"
I think what would be better would be a survey conducted by CTC and other cycle organisations, that would focus on something similar. Number of cars that actually pay VED? Or about how many people know the difference? Then we could target and reeducate...
Saw an article in the Metro that chilled me this morning... http://www.metro.co.uk/news/882297-irre ... of-drivers. So I think that would be good.

"Road Tax"
That article explains a lot. Apparently we should pay Road Tax because we jump red lights and cycle the wrong way up one way streets. I never realised that Road Tax was in fact payment for an entitlement to break the law. It would explain why SUVs and BMWs have to pay higher Road Tax and why so many drivers speed, run red lights, park on double yellows and drive on the phone - they've paid their Road Tax which entitles them to.
