This seems to have happened the the United States. Bearing in mind the apparently completely different attitudes to firearms control there, as compared with here, I'm not sure that comparisons are really valid.

Although an elderly man on a bicycle, the cops were called because a member of the public saw him fall over and thought he might have hurt himself.
Not appropriate to use any degree of force.

Unfortunately a very typical American response to an innocent situation. I'm sure similar situations would not all be treated the same way, but even so not a country I have any wish to go cycling in..

Parts of the USA are good for cycling but they do seem a bit trigger happy. If it had been a women they would probably have not used the same approach.
