Does anyone know the track from Hull to Heddon? It's called South Holderness Rail Trail (permissive bridleway) on the sustrans map. What kind of surface is it and could I do it on a road bike with 25 cm tyres and plenty of luggage? Also the same question for the trail from Hull to Hornsea, the last bit of the Trans Pennine Trail, called the Hornsea Rail Trail on the Sustrans map. Anyone know what the surface is like? Thanks a lot for all the help so far.

yes ridden lots of times.

Hull To Hedon, excellent track no problems
Hull to Hornsea - you should be fine, some sections are gravel based, my concern would be 25cm and lots of luggage. If you went careful you should be fine. There a few unsmooth bits but nothing drastic that should prevent you riding it.

If you want good chips try Suttons in Wainfleet - so traditional they still use a coal fired range. A stop at any of the Bateman's pubs there is well worthwhile too.
