Should be pretty easy to either prove or disprove, just by swapping shoes between brakes? And it would be one tiny step to a better understanding!

was looking at the current shimano offering today; the BR-R550, as fitted to the current Dawes Galaxy. It looks OK to me, for a canti that has a middling stickout. Pad mountings are offset so the front brake should gain and the rear loses a little which is OK by me. They won't fit every frame because the leading edge of the cartridge front pad is behind the fork.

I have no idea why they are £18 a pair in Germany and about double that here though....

I am checking my brake shoes some more....
