My dad is looking to sell his early 80s Wester Ross. We narrowly missed my mum putting it out for recycling!

It's custom built in 531 tubing (ST, I think) and mostly period... 5 speed freewheel, TA triple, etc. It's a 21" frame. It's also in absolutely pristine condition: I doubt he rode more than 100 miles on it.

Rather than posting it straight as an advert here or on eBay I said I would try and get some idea of its value before trying to sell it. I'd take it myself if I had room for it, but I have far too many bikes to care for at the moment!

Anyone any idea if it might have any particular worth above being a 30 year old quality touring bike? I know there's a Wester Ross site on the 'net, but it appears moribund.

Wester Ross frames were top quality at the time. Built by a small business for a few years only. Certainly collectable but as to worth depends on what someone wants to pay. Check the Wester Ross site ( via Google) for more info.

I have just checked out the Wester Ross site and it seems ok.

I have 1 long sleeve and 1 short sleeve jersey if anyone is interested... small size.

What sort of jersey are they ????

They were made by Beanbag, with the Wester Ross logo on them and 3 rear pockets.

A picture is worth more than a thousand words, not that I am in a position to make an offer at the moment, sadly.

I'd definitely be interested in buying your dad's bike - depending on the size. Is there any chance you can provide more details of what size it is, what groupset it's fitted with, etc?
