Hi,
I am having a problem finding a rigid front fork that has braze-on and no pivots. I am converting a Giant FCR3 2005 Aluminium frame (700c). The current set-up involves a carbon fibre front fork which will not accommodate a front rack (bladed shape, no braze-ons) or the slightly larger tyres I am putting on. I would also like to maintain the dual pivot braking system, but there seem to be few forks that allow for this. (Are there any major implications of having a V-brake on the front fork and a dual pivot on the rear?) The fork also needs to have braze-ons, preferably mid stem to mount a low rider front rack.
It would seem to me that the fork specs are relatively common : 1 1/8" Cane Creek threadless Aheadset. The stem is 270mm. I am having wheels manufactured at the moment - Rigida Sputnik to go with Schwalbe Marathon 700x35 tyres.
Any ideas?
Many thanks, Clayton

Re: Front Fork difficulties
there was a thread with a similar request quite recently with recommendations for forks.

Some (myself included) were of a view that running very tight clearances at either end of the bike with mudguards is inviting a nasty accident.
You can run mixed brakes front and rear but some including full-V and DP require different cable pulls and therefore ideally need different levers.
cheers

Re: Front Fork difficulties
Has your FCR frame got clearances for the 35mm marathons? I dont think the one we have would have enough room for them, even without mudguards. Just a thought...!
Re: Front Fork difficulties
Thanks very much for the info and link. I think I would have ended with perhaps 1 or 2 mm clearance at best. Things looked a little simpler with the frame stripped, brake clearance wasn't at the forefront of my thoughts either. All things considered, I have decided to shelve the idea of converting this frame and purchased a purpose built frame. Probably what I should have done to start with, but the learning curve has been pretty useful.
Thanks again
