anybody know what the dates are for 2012 bike week.

I understand that there is to be no Bike Week this year - another very late announcement. Have these people any idea of what organising is about? Most organisers had to plan 2012 events last autumn. We asked Bike Week for the 2012 dates last autumn but had no reply so we assumed that this year's Bike Week would be the same week as 2011.

I gather that there is to be a season long replacement. It is what some have been doing all along! I regret the disappearance of Bike Week because we got very good quality publicity material, a good website and insurance cover for not only Bike Week but all events that preceded it.

Been replaced by Skyride??

According to a two page article in the Observer yesterday the Olympics will make 2012 the year of the bike. Without any sense of irony it talks about Britain's great success in cycle sport. The irony being that there are Frenchmen, Italians, Irishmen and Belgians who individually have won more major events than all Britain's cyclists combined. Eddy Merckx probably did this each year between 1969 and 1974.
