I only had to replace one tyre during the time I was training (3 months) and including Lejog covered 3000+ miles. During my training routes I only ever suffered 1 puncture and this was due to a worn rear tyre. The Shewebes can be bought in most good bike shops such as Evans and are relatively cheap at £30 tyre! Would highly recommend for a trip like LEJOG!

The Schewebes sounds like the way forward thx 'Kingswood Gas'

Yes, but which Schwalbe - there are so many?

Anyway, to add to the fray, here's my experiences - each tyre mentioned has given long wear (at least 2k miles-I don't keep accurate mileage logs though  )
1. Schwalbe Marathon Supreme - light in weight, good grip and folds: used on tandem tours, fully loaded 26" x 1.5"(front) 2.0" (back)
2. Scwalbe Marathon Plus - heavier though - used on solo tours fully loaded 700 x 38
3. Continental Gatorskins 700 x 25 on audax bike: nippy and light but haven't used loaded (unless you count the large 'me' plus shopping?)
All have resisted the p**** fairy very well but none by 100% - I don't think that's a realistic expectation, although cycling a couple of thousand miles between punctures is, unless unlucky.
