I remember that with the original Moultons, somebody formed a team pursuit squad.

That's true. It was one of AM's marketing stunts in 1963. They would go to a track and ask for eight well-matched riders, and stick four of them on Moulton Speeds. Because the bike is so much shorter the draughting was vastly superior to a normal pursuit team. The Moultons invariably won: physics not lying again here. They also went round the USA in 1963-64 doing the same trick. Back then Mick Ives and John Woodburn were on Moulton's squad of riders.

In about 1966 they made one experimental 531 short-wheelbase track Speed with cowhorn bars (18 years before Moser) and no suspension. It weighed 16lb and was reputedly a bit speedy. By this time AM was losing interest in racing and so it never went anywhere. It's still in his museum, and still looks mean.
