So you're happy for a business to be "named & shamed" before the OP has given them an opportunity to correct the situation?

You are obviously upset by that situation. Nevertheless, I am happy to name and shame businesses that give poor service. By the same token, I would praise and leave good reviews for one that gave good service. I have only ever given 1 bad review, most have been praise for good or reasonable service.

Why should the OP (the customer) have to chase the business for a solution? A reasonable request has been made and in my opinion, a totally unreasonable response given.

The way I see this, it wasn't an accident or a mistake that the hotel has made, like serving up a fly in a diner's soup. The hotel took time to consider the OP's request, then a lady phoned back with an official response---£110.
This is clearly the primary attitude of the hotel, and really, this is what they should be judged on.
They may be all contrite if the corporate hirer weighs in, but then how often do you read of people such as a pub landlord chucking out a nursing mother, only for him to say, when confronted by a newspaper reporter, I've got nothing against breastfeeding in public etc. Again, it is your first and instinctive behaviour that reveals your true character.

Sounds like its time to take your business to another hotel.
