Mounting mudguards

Post by neilob »

The problem is simple, the solution seems harder! I have a frame with allen key brake fittings. I want/need to mount the front mudguard at the rear of the fork rather than at the front......how do I do it?

You need to find something like this in the UK:

another way to do it is to make the hole in the mudguard 8mm dia, then fit a little spacer 10mm OD, 8mm ID, ~2mm long between the mudguard bracket and the frame. You may need to fit a slightly longer AK nut.

If you fancy something dead simple, just fit the mudguard drilled to 8mm as above, and put an M8 washer or two between the AK nut and the mudguard bracket.

cheers

Make 2 small slots in line with the brake mounting in front of the fork, remove the bracket and zip tie (use re-useable ones if you feel the need) the mudguard on. You may need to make a small rubber spacer to go between the brake and the mudguard.
