On-One Inbred mudguards

Hi,
I have an on-one inbred 29er with the rigid carbon forks, that I plan to use as a touring bike. I'd like to fit mudguards if I can. Has anyone else done this with this frame/fork combination? If so what did you use and how easy was it?

Thanks

Andy

Have the same but a 26er version. I actually found the rear mudguard to be the problem, though the whole thing was a bit of a bodge. There was no central drilling around the seat stay or bottom bracket shell for the central mount of the mudguard or space for a suitable P-clip. Had to use my imagination with cable ties and a plastic Zefal mudguard. As for the front, I think you'd probably need to use 4 P-clips. Then have a straight piece of metal between two clips with a hole drilled in it to mount.

Or use a crud catcher on the front which I did.

Others do seem to have come up with more elegant solutions:

Hi,
Thanks for the replies. My bike has a rear rack and currently looks like this:

As an experiment I've ordered some of these:

and will see how I get on! I should at least be able to make some sort of rear mudguard out of them. As to the front well I'm not really sure how to fit any sort of guard, I have no mounting points on the forks and there is no hole through the fork crown. My best bet seems to be some sort of expansion bolt up into the steering tube of the forks and lots of bodging...

All the best

Andy

You mean like a star nut? The same bodge that holds the forks in place at the top of the head tube. That should cope with the load from a mudguard bracket.

Hi,
yes like a star nut. But I don't think I can use a standard star nut as the inside diameter at the fork crown is much smaller than the steerer tube. The inside diameter is actually 19mm (just measured it with a set of callipers). Do star nuts come that small and if so where can I get one from? If not anyone got any suggestions on some other sort of expanding nut fitting?

Thanks

Andy

How about a rubber bung with a bolt and nut through it?
Best not to score up the inside of the steerer, I guess its alloy, and that end is highly stressed.
