Mending PU coated waterproofs

Maybe this is a bit OT, not being specifically for cycling - excuse me if so.

I'm wondering if anyone's had experience of/knows where to get materials for, mending polyurethane coated waterproofs? (ie, the cheap sort that don't breathe much).

Any ideas much appreciated. Thanks, Ed

If it's just a small hole or a simple tear, then you could try ironing on some seam sealing tape from Pennine Outdoors or Point North (fabrics suppliers for the DIYers). However you may find that it won't stick as coatings may have a taping coating over the top to help the tape to stick. This coating layer often gets worn off in use. Failing that, glue a patch of fabric onto the inside using Aquasure (ebay is cheapest). If that fails, get a new jacket :)

I used this to repair a small (1/2") hole in a Craghopper jacket.
Been on a few years now and did the job a treat.

Duct tape. Quality can vary though.

More expensive, but McNett Tenacious Tape.
