Seatpost racks
Re: Seatpost racks
Got a cheapo one in Tesco in Perth (£9.90 I think) when passing a couple of weeks ago for one of the spare bikes. This is to be left with one of my sons for my casual use when calling in for the occasional overnight when passing. Sounds a bit convoluted but makes sense to me anyway. Not tried it out yet but for light use would seem ok.Not too heavy and can be shifted around when required.Biggest problem actually is getting a decent bag to put on it.

Very much depends on your bike/geometry- my partner bought herself one for her Trek hybrid and she needs to use it with a rack or else it sits on the wheel! Got the bracket as high as it will go on the seatpost, but still the rail is only about midway through the flaps on the side, nowhere near supporting it.
The pockets are actually flaps that the rail sits in, so there's several inches there before it's rested. Like this it works, but is a bit unstable in my mind, and defeats the object. Bend the rails and it'll jam against the saddle. and you'd need to undo the bracket to unclip. But that is a small bike with compact geometry and 700 wheels, a taller frame could be ok.
Cheers, Jem.

I use a Topeak Beam Rack with a Carradice rack pack for Audaxes. I'm happy with it. I bought the rack mostly for a trike, on which a traditional carrier rack is impracticable, but now also use it on a regular bike.
