I was out in Sundays all day down pour and had to push bike ( Dolan cyclo cross) through knee high water -it went well over bottom bracket - any tips about how to get water out?
Thanks
Toby ( and next time I'll carry bike)
Water inside aluminmun frame
Re: Water inside aluminmun frame
Take out the bottom bracket and leave the bike indoors for a while (overnight at least) before putting it back.
Whilst it's out, look to see if the ends of the frame tubes are sealed off inside (chainstays and down/seattubes). If they aren't, or if there are breather holes in the chainstays, try and empty out any water that's got in.
Other stuff to look at if you feel like it...
These days BBs are all sealed units so there's nothing to do.
If your hubs are Shimano or Campag and the water got that high, they could do with a service. Other hubs are mostly sealed cartridge bearings.
If the pedals are serviceable, they could be serviced too.
I wouldn't say you've got to do the hubs & pedals, but if water has got in their life will be reduced.

Re: Water inside aluminmun frame
I'd have carried mine!
If my bike had been up to its BB in water, I'd strip and service everything. I'd hang the bare frame up in the warm kitchen with the forks removed. A day or two should do it, but I'd be very fussy.
