E A Bolt Cycles

Post by 9494arnold »

Anyone heard of them? Recently had a Frame donated to the National Cycle Museum that is supposed to be an EA Bolt but it's in bare metal so no identifying features.

I think they were a London area builder (or Southern based at least) who sold a lot into the trade. I've seen adverts in old magazines for retailers listing the brands they sold and included in these are Bolt frames.
I don't know where I'm going but I'll always tell you where I am.

The company was E A Boult, spelled with a U. He was a London base builder and sold frames through agents throughout the country. The business was taken over by Ernie Witcomb in the late 1940s and became Witcomb Cycles.
