Did my first audax yesterday, just recovered enough to post this and thank the organisers, Beacon Cycling club for a well organised event.
I'd be interested if anyone can tell me how many riders there were, seemed like hundreds to me.
And free tea and cake before and after the event.
Wonderful course, did the 109km anticlockwise.
Only problem was my legs on the last 15km. My time showed I averaged 1.5km an hour faster than I've ever done for that sort of distance and at 63 i should be getting to old for pb's. I'ts easy to get carried along at a pace which is really to fast for you.
However I'll definitely be doing some more audax's. Its a great way of getting out on new routes and meeting fellow cyclists.

Well done!
I meet up several times a year with a 70 year old Audax rider who can show me a clean pair of heels but is happy enough to lurk at the back with me for a sociable chat and cruise. I thought that he was a regular 100km rider until I looked at his online records on the Audax site and saw that he has got 200 and 300km rides under his belt this season too!
Audaxing certainly is a good way of getting out and about. i've got to know a lot of folk around Lancs. W.Yorks, E. Yorks and N. Yorks over the past few years.
Yep a great ride, I was there too - did a PB for the distance. Beacon organised an excellent ride as always - congrats to George and the team.
You did the anti-clockwise - I did the clockwise which (with local knowledge - I think I had ridden on every lane we used) I knew would have the easier gradients
That climb from Danzey up to Tanworth must have been hard work on the run home, we breezed down it and just had the drag up from Ullenhall to contend with on our return
Don't forget that MacRide on 9 September uses much of the same area - see www.macride100.co.uk for the 100k - or www.macride.org.uk for the 25/50 miler

Well done. I'm a few years behind you, and was just wondering how I had managed to take 17 minutes longer today on my inward commute than my "PB" this week! (Well, it was a "rest day" & a bit of a headwind).
I'ts easy to get carried along at a pace which is really to fast for you.
I wish!
Regards,
M. (not an Audax rider....).
