Hi

I'm not sure if it's me, but.........

In using the search function, I typed 'Lon ' into the search box in a specific forum. It returned nothing. When I typed 'Cymru' into the search box it returned several posts with 'Lon las Cymru' in the title. Why didn't the search function find 'Lon'?

It doesnt work for words with less than four letters.

Which makes searching for Lon Las rather hopeless.
Doesnt help if you switch to Route 8 either.

Cant find IQ Cyo, or IQ Fly or BB or many other words that are of common use on the Forum.

You can always use Google - if you search on "site:forum.ctc.org.uk lon" you get 219 hits, mostly likely to be relevant (it is near the bottom of the 3rd page before it picks up a Lon that looks like it it an abbreviation for London.

The "site:[website address]" modifier can be very useful where forum software searches fail.

Nor does it work with some gour letter words.

I can search "fork" succesfully but not "what" nor "here".

Common words are also on the chop because they appear too often. It is a feature of the forum software (although it can be turned off). This works much the same way as Google ignores some words. Do you need to search for those words?
