Not really cycling related however I'm curious who to complain to about the state of the A46 near me.
The section between Lincoln and Newark is really badly broken up in several places. Large parts were resurfaced recently, certainly within the last 6 months and some of the new sections are now as broken up as the old sections which have been down for about 12 years. I reckon whoever is responsible should be asking the company who did the resurfacing to sort the problems or give the taxpayer their money back.
I would get in touch with the Roads Dept. of both Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Councils however it's dual carriageway and I believe Central Government rather than Local Government is responsible. Who do you complain to?
Who to complain to?
Who to complain to?
I'm not old and cynical, I'm realistic!

Reporting on Fill That Hole would probably be a good start as they should know who's responsibility any given stretch of road is.

I've just submitted a report on fill that hole. Let's see what happens.

From the Highways Agency map, it appears that the road is a trunk road and their responsibility.

Re: Who to complain to?
there seems to be some kind of sickness rolling across the country. The eco-tarmac farce syndrome.
E.F.S is occuring on new roads and newly resurfaced exisiting roads all over the place.
The signs are crumbling surfaces. It appears the problem is due to the combination of using the old tarmac recycled as the agregate with a new tar binder that consists of recycled biro ink. Ok, joking on the that last bit, its a low melting point tar that saves money as it doesnt need so much fuel to heat up to melt. The only problem is that is then melts is use. And it doesnt have the same binding qualties as the old stuff so with all these 44 tonne trucks and cyclists with ponds in their heads (see other topics) the surface quickly breaks up.
As for the surface dressing that councils use to avoid making a proper repair, the stone gets ripped away within a week leaving a glass smooth surface that is dangerous when wet.
So the question is why do the councils continue to use this rubbish when it only needs replacing again so soon after. False economy.

Because the other lot might be in power by then. And doing something for every problem is better than doing nothing for some of them in order to do a few properly.

Roads round here are rubbish, until that is the Great North Run comes through and they smooth out the roads perfectly. It's all about money.
Also with the Olympic Torch that came through on the weekend, done the roads, repainting the lines and everything... even cut the grass!
