First post.
Just wanted to say that on 20th July I'll be on my
first solo tour since 1983

. I can only get away for 7 days
So flying to Munich then 3 days south into the Alps, 1 day to climb Grossglockner (unloaded) and 3 days back to Munich.
Here's the planned route

Gluck!
There is a bike bus over the Gross Gloeckner if you feel a bit jaded at that point, it is a big climb! Must admit to wimping outmyself a couple of years ago.

Yes I crossed it South to North fully loaded with camping gear back in 1983. The plan this time is to camp at Zell am See for two nights and try the climb unloaded. If I fail I can just turn back. I'm taking my Contour HD camera so hopefully a video of the descent will be coming....

That was my plan but a long wet ride from Hallein left me too drained to contemplate the hairpins so i took the bus instead. The campsite at the bottom of the lake was great, new facilities and i made good use of the lounge.
I did go over the Gerlos next day and a fistfull of other passes in the following days so i didn't feel too bad about not riding it.
Have fun

I know a lot of people have been experiencing underwater camping recently, but I didn't know people did it deliberately.
