Just wondered again if anyone is doing the Way of the Roses during the first week of August. I am camping the route so would be greatful for some company along the way.

Cheers barbelfisher.

Not really an answer, but I'm thinking of doing it the last week of August so would be interested to hear about how you get on and about the campsites.
I hope you get some company - or find that you enjoy your own company!

I did a variation of the official route at the start of June (before going up to Newcastle, across to Maryort and back down to Manchester).

The campsite I stayed at in Morecambe, I wouldn't recommend although it was handy for the start it was one of the crudest and most basic campsites I've stayed in and having to pay £10 as well. Just to the south east of Ripon I stayed at the Boroughbridge Camping and Caravan Club Site, which I would highly recommend. I had trouble finding a campsite in Bridlington with vacancies as it was the bank Holiday weekend, but because of the bad weather there were a few vacancies when we arrived at The Grange campsite in Flamborough, again a site I would recommend within about 10 minutes of of the village with a shop and a couple of pubs and a fish & chip shop!
