Nicole Cooke retains Grande Boucle Feminine

Post by Mrs Tortoise »

Top British rider Nicole Cooke has retained the women's Tour of France title, with fellow Brit Emma Pooley, coming third. I hope this spurs the British men to do well in the upcoming TdF.

Chapeau!

But the BBC coverage has been dismal. She merited only a one liner on local news today. :?

great for her, great for British cycling, but p#ss poor reporting. I knew nothing of this ... but I did know from the BBC that Hammond and Cavendish might be selected for the mens TDF!

Fantastic result.

Feeble coverage.
And I've yet to see anything about Victoria Pendleton's achievements on TV.
Maybe I don't watch enough... but I seem to watch enought to keep hearing about Tim b****y Henman.

Indeed. Why can't the press give some column inches and air time to ritish athletes who ARE achieving something?

That would change into positive news and we can't have that now can we?
I have however complained to the Guardian that they mentioned Karpets' win in the Tour of Switzerland, but no mention of Cooke.
