Just for interest I've just come back from our led trip and the cost for 13 cyclists (all but two in their own tent) through Normandy and Brittany for 12 nights worked out at 65 Euro a head. Because of the bad weather we tended to use bigger, better equipped (and thus more expensive) sites, but about 5 Euro a head per night is the norm in Rural France. The snag is when you are solo as often prices are per 'emplacement' + one adult, but others are more flexible.

Fond memories of car camping in Wales years and years ago when there were loads of cheap (some temporary for the season) simple campsites around - just a grassy field and a simple small facilities block - exactly the sort I like.

I rather thought those days were gone and I was doomed to tell folk "I remember when" but my neighbour is just off to Wales on a car camp with friends and reckons that there are still cheapish campsites in Wales.

Other folks input on this welcome. I must get back to Wales.
