trailer for dual usage?

I'm thinking of getting a trailer for my bike to carry my son but would also like to use it (when he's not in it) for a cargo trailer. i would only be using the trailer in cargo mode for doing a supermarket run. just wondered if anyone has experience of using a children's trailer as a cargo trailer. can the seat section be fully or partly removed for example and what would be a good one to go for ? i have a budget of £100.
thanks in advance !

I find the weekly shopping will sit on the seat, floorwell and rear space of my child trailer quite nicely.
Sometimes when she is still in it.

I do prefer to carry the heavier items in panniers on the back of the bike.

Same - the seat stays in, and the straps can be useful to ensure things stay right way up.

Not toured though.
